Nestled on Via Leoncino, just a stone’s throw from Verona’s iconic Arena, Caffè degli Artisti is a charming espresso bar that effortlessly blends local authenticity with a welcoming atmosphere. This delightful little spot is a favorite haunt among locals who seek a morning pick-me-up or a relaxed pause from the bustle of the city.
Step inside or settle into the outdoor seating, where you can savor your coffee while soaking in stunning views of the amphitheater. The outdoor area enjoys a sunny disposition for most of the day, perfect for both the warmth of summer under the shade of umbrellas and the gentle winter sun—a rare find that transforms your coffee break into a moment of pure contentment.
The espresso here is nothing short of delightful—rich, aromatic, and crafted to perfection, it’s clear the baristas take pride in their craft. Accompany your coffee with fresh, crisp sandwiches or flaky pastries in the morning, all served at reasonable prices that honor the local patrons who make this place their daily ritual. If you’re there around lunch, don’t miss trying their melon with prosciutto—a refreshing Italian classic—and the generously sized side salads, both highlighted fondly by visitors.
Beyond coffee and light bites, the menu offers hearty pasta dishes like the tortellini, praised by customers as some of the best they’ve ever had, and classic carbonara that hits all the right notes of creamy, savory satisfaction. For those seeking a light yet flavorful meal, the panini selections—named whimsically after operatic legends—showcase the cafe’s connection to Verona’s rich cultural fabric.
What truly sets Caffè degli Artisti apart is its genuine warmth. The bilingual staff welcome you with friendly smiles and attentive service, making everyone feel like part of the neighborhood. It’s a calm oasis away from the tourist throngs, where locals, opera crews, and visitors mingle in a relaxed setting filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and artisan treats.
For a memorable pause in your Verona adventures, whether it’s an energizing espresso standing at the counter or a leisurely lunch with a glass of sparkling wine while gazing at the Arena, Caffè degli Artisti feels like a little hidden gem. Its blend of authentic Italian flavors, scenic charm, and heartfelt hospitality makes it a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

Nice little corner cafe, fresh sandwiches and pastries in the morning. Reasonable prices. The outdoor seating overlooks the arena, and staff are friendly. One for locals mainly, who come to drink an espresso at the counter before work.

Great little cafe adjacent to the Arena. both indoor, and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is nominally south facing, so is a sun trap most of the day, so in winter, a delight, and with plenty of umbrellas, shaded in the summer. Friendly bilingual service all with a smile, and reasonable prices, particularly considering its proximity to the aforementioned arena. I did not eat, but the food cabinets were well stocked, and everything looked fresh.

We chose this place because it was away from the tourist trap restaurants and had a really nice view of the Theater. I ordered the tortellini and a glass of sparkling wine. My husband ordered the carbonara. He really enjoyed his meal. My Tortellini was the best that I have ever had!!

Nice place away from the crowds on the other side of the arena. The crew were striking a set from last night’s opera and a couple called in for a break. The place was calm and relaxed, serving snacks of very good quality. Panini Otello, Macbeth etc. you get the drift.
